" I am writing to let people know that there are possible Healing alternatives to surgery and more specifically Back Surgery. In October of 2010 while doing a traditional hung gar workout as has been for the past seven years I started to experience pain in my left leg running all the way down to my foot. This was strange due to the fact there was not any previous injury or strain to alert me to a problem. The next morning was an experience I would not wish on anyone, the pain was excruciating, I could not walk upright, crawling was how I got to the bathroom, took a number of Tylenol and hobbled in to the clinic. The prognosis was not good - X rays concluded a herniated disc 8 mm. out causing a pinching of the Sciatica nerve. Next stop was to get an M R I and the findings : AP lateral and lateral L5 - S1 views show a very significant degenerative disc disease at multiple levels including L1-2, L2-3, L3-4, L4-5 .Spodylosis at multiple levels at L1-2, L2-3 L3-4.There is more but this gives you the idea of a major problem. Back Surgery was the only solution in the eyes of the doctors, as was told to me this has been a long process of deterioration and your last workout was"The Straw that broke the Camels Back" but I really did not want to go that route if at all possible. As we know back surgery has a low percentage rate of success especially given my situation. I tried physical therapy but I must tell you it made it worse and the pain medications were making me sick. There was definitely a sense of hopelessness. What was thought of as healthy exercise was now the cause of the problem.
During this time I was a part time student at The Far East Association - Wing Chun Kuen where I was a casual student.I like the workouts, the sharing of information and the family type of atmosphere, occasionally I would see Master Khoa treating peoples physical ailments i.e. back, shoulder, muscle strains etc.little did I know he would be fixing me. I hobbled in with my cane to tell him of my injury and let him know what the prognosis was. That was all he needed to hear and proceeded to make his own diagnosis which was and I quote " It's not that bad and I can Fix it".I thought to myself is this for real and with that The Master went to work on my back , starting out by rubbing lineament on my lower back where the injury occurred then he tells me to breath in, then out and all I heard was two pops, next he told me to stand up,and it was amazing,I could stand straight up but more importantly- Breath and walk without a cane. This was the first step and following his instructions of rehab for the past couple of months I'm now able to workout and do the things I enjoy.I must admit that this has been a long process of learning what is actually healthy for the body as opposed harmful and I learn something new every time I go to class.I owe a debt of gratitude to Master Khoa and hopefully anyone experiencing this or any type of prognosis will call, stop in and give a True Master of Healing a chance. If anyone has any questions or would like
to see the medical reports, Master Khoa would be happy to share them with you.
As a closing note; it is funny when we turn each page in the Book of Life, and discover the people we meet. If not for meeting Master Khoa there would be a different scenario one of which I would hate to fathom.
Sincerely Yours,
Brian Duane"
